Toronto City Council meets today! Here's @neville_park's always useful preview: http://torontoist.com/2015/11/city-council-preview-november-2015/

Rob Ford is holding council's item on the appointment of the poet laureate. Councillors should be forced to debate in iambic pentameter.

Coun. John Campbell only city councillor in attendance to vote against tax exempt status for the Aga Khan museum.

Coun. Pasternak seems determined to talk about the Sheppard subway during a debate on waterfront transit. Sheppard is ~14km from the lake.

@GraphicMatt Well, North York deserves a waterfront too, and Sheppard seems like a reasonable place to build one.

Toronto Council votes 34-3 to ban Hookah lounges. Here's the vote:

At council, Wong-Tam points out that there's a real chance council will approve this anti-poverty strategy and then not fund it.

The general pattern of council is to approve all sorts of plans throughout the year and then deny funding for those plans come budget time.

Council adopts the anti-poverty strategy 40-0. Much applause.

Council votes 20-8 to extend their meeting to 9 p.m. Chair Nunziata does not seem thrilled with this result.

Mammoliti motion to ask the province to authorize towing of UberX vehicles fails, 10-19.
