City Council meets today! But they're quickly going into closed session to talk about Uber and taxis and such.
Presumably later on a bunch of people wearing matching t-shirts will fill the council chamber and maybe yell a bit.
Until then, here's @neville_park's council preview at @torontoist: http://torontoist.com/2016/02/city-council-preview-february-2016/
At council, the word from legal staff is that the Licensing & Standards report on Uber/taxi regulation will be coming our way in April.
The message from city legal staff to council is, basically: don't file an injunction, wait for the MLS report, patience is a virtue.
Mayor Tory, always wordy, moves to add the words "under the appropriate circumstances" to Uber injunction motion.

Not sure what the actual effect of that change is. I'd guess staff will decide if circumstances become appropriate.
Uber injunction, what's your function?
That's a pretty big "if." Council has been attempting to pass and implement new taxi rules for years. https://x.com/dmrider/status/694935521475211264

.@JohnTory throws down gauntlet - if new rules brought forward, passed by council and @Uber ignores, he will support injunction against it
Council's latest Uber debate is getting yelly. You can watch the YouTube livestream here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxjRAoYaXME
This Coun. Anthony Perruzza speech has everything. It's like a plot sketch for a Rocky movie where Rocky fights new technology.
Tory's Uber motion is crafty. Once it passes, anti-Uber councillors can say council voted for injunction, but no injunction will be filed.
Tory's motion to seek Uber injunction only "under appropriate circumstances" passes 39-3.

During council's debate on St. Lawrence Market's historical value today, Coun. McConnell alluded to this story.

I half-heard her talking about bleachers breaking and people getting impaled. I had to track down details because, well, obviously I did.

Council votes 28-3 to reject sale of fireworks on Labour Day. Not an explosive debate.
